Did Jeffrey Epstein Really Commit Suicide?

On July 8th, Jeffrey Epstein was charged with one count of sex trafficking conspiracy and one count of sex trafficking with underage females. Denied bail, he had spent the next month at the Metropolitan Correctional Center until he was found dead in his cell on August 10th.

Epstein took his criminal case with him when he died, according to former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti: “…Because no one else was charged in the indictment…it means that there won’t be a public trial or other proceedings that could reveal evidence of his wrongdoing.” Epstein’s accomplices stood to gain the most from his death, which is leading many to speculate his actual cause of death.

The Department of Justice released an official statement:

“On Saturday, August 10, 2019, at approximately 6:30 a.m., inmate Jeffrey Edward Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell in the Special Housing Unit from an apparent suicide at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in New York, New York. Life-saving measures were initiated immediately by responding staff. Staff requested emergency medical services (EMS) and life-saving efforts continued. Mr. Epstein was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, and subsequently pronounced dead by hospital staff. The FBI is investigating the incident.”

Barbara Sampson, the chief medical examiner of New York City, performed the autopsy of Jeffrey Epstein along with supervision from Dr. Michael Baden, a private pathologist who conducted autopsies of Michael Brown and former NFL tight end Aaron Hernandez. On Friday, August 16th, Sampson had determined Epstein’s cause of death to be “hanging” in the manner of “suicide” after “careful review of all investigative information.”

Sampson ruled out any foul play in her autopsy report, attempting to put to bed the rumors and speculations that Epstein’s death may have been a homicide. According to two “experts” familiar with the findings of the autopsy who spoke to The Washington Post, Epstein suffered multiple breaks in his neck bones.

Why is there speculation?

“Among the bones broken in Epstein’s neck was the hyoid bone, which in men is near the Adam’s apple. Such breaks can occur in those who hang themselves, particularly if they are older, according to forensics experts and studies on the subject. But they are more common in victims of homicide by strangulation, the experts said.”

On July 23rd, three weeks before his death, Epstein had been found half-conscious in his cell with marks on his neck and was consequently put on suicide watch. However, he was removed from suicide watch on July 29th and returned to a cell with no cellmate, which is against practice for prisoners who have been on suicide watch.

According to a report from the New York Times, two guards in Epstein’s jail unit fell asleep and did not check on him for about three hours the night before he was found dead. They then proceeded to falsify records in an attempt to cover up their mistake. No surveillance video exists of Epstein’s death, as there were video cameras in his section of the prison but none that point to the inside of the cells.

Just two days before he was found dead, Epstein redrafted and signed his final will and testament, adding more fuel to the fire of conspiracy theories surrounding his death. He instructed his executors to “pay from my estate all expenses of my last illness, my funeral and burial expenses,” as well as transfer all his property into a trust of which the beneficiaries are unknown. Epstein’s estate was estimated to be worth $577.6 million.

Epstein was famously close with former United States President Bill Clinton, leading many to believe that the Clinton family had something to do with his death. Theorists reference the “Clinton Body Count”, an apparent list of over forty people with connections to the Clinton family who have died, including eleven Clinton bodyguards. Many of the deaths on this list occurred to people who supposedly knew information that could incriminate the Clintons in multiple court cases.

Is Jeffrey Epstein just another tally on the Clinton Body Count? Or is he a pedophile who committed suicide before he could be questioned? Epstein’s attorneys are supposedly launching their own investigation into the matter, so perhaps we may receive an answer soon.
